Golf Putting Tips that We Guarantee Will Improve Your Putting

Golf Putting Tips that Anyone Can Use

GOLF The Best Putting Instruction Book Ever!

GOLF The Best Putting Instruction Book Ever!

With a few golf putting tips, it’s not hard to be a decent putter.  These fundamentals if followed will definitely improve your putting and your short game if you have been struggling.  We strongly feel that based on the golf putting tips we will demonstrate here will help anyone to putt at least adequately.  Notwithstanding the very fact that all of us three putt, most golfers agree that those will be undeniably the wasted golf strokes that are easiest to deal with.  To end your three putting woes, these golf putting tips  deal with five areas that should help you to put a stop to three putting woes.

5 Bits of Putting Advice

1. The first of our golf putting tips is to get it within two feet.  If you are in three putt territory, or maybe the very challenging downhill or side hill golf putt, imagine simply putting the golf ball within a two foot radius from the hole.  Using this large of an area to shoot for, stress will be reduced, and greater relaxation is going to breed far more consistency.  Only don’t take that short putt for granted.

2. Try to leave yourself with an easy, uphill second putt.  To term it in a different way, if you will miss, miss on the downside of the target.  A four foot straight, uphill putt isn’t all that hard.  Just hit it straight.  However a two foot, downhill putt which includes a break is generally precarious.

3. Bring the putter back less.  This point is not only valid to end three putting, but in general to improve putting, and that’s to take the putter back a lesser distance, and speed up through the ball.  This permits for greater control of the putting stroke.  Increased control is gained through acceleration, versus trying to “feel” your path through impact.  This doesn’t just allow that you hit the golf ball cleaner, but additionally by bringing the putter back a smaller distance, you will have better chance of maintaining it on line throughout the putt.

4. Put into practice the square to square putting method.  With this easy tactic to use the putter, the blade is going to travel directly back, hitting the ball squarely at impact, and finishing at the hole.  As with each technique in the game, the more basic they are, the more consistent you may become.

5. Our last of our golf putting tips is to recognize your actual target.  On lengthier putts, concentrate on the target, which isn’t inevitably the hole.  Your target could be two inches off to the right of the hole, should you anticipate the break of the green being two inches.  At the outset decide on the break, which might be misleading.  Check the overall shape of the green when you come close to it from your fairway.  If the general contour is inclined in the direction of water, as many do for correct water drainage, that will factor into the break in the green that you study the green.  Other factors that could influence break are speed of the greens (faster greens generally will break greater), how the grass lies following cutting, and powerful wind.

Make Your Putting Stroke More Consistent

A More Consistent Putting Stroke

Are you surprised when you observe a professional golf event on tv and see the amount of putts the professionals make?   The putting stroke the professionals use to strike the ball is what allows them to shoot low scores.

How frequently have you hit a beautiful long and straight  tee shot, followed it up with a excellent approach only to 3 putt and depart the hole with a disappointing bogey? How frequently do you discover your self feeling anxious over your short putts?

Here Are a Few Putting Tips and Drills

So, what does it take to learn putting techniques? I am going to give you a couple of of my golf putting tips and golf putting drills to help you improve your putting game.

1. Consistency must be a significant component of your putting game. Sure we all need to make every putt, but it’s a lot more essential to get the ball close on long putts so you guarantee a two-putt every time. Additionally, you have to consistently make those three and four footers. Make these, minimize your 3 putts,  and you will see your scores improve.

2. A repetitive putting stroke is a necessity if you are going to execute under pressure and make putts in important situations.

3. A sound psychological strategy including a positive perspective is an absolute requirement if you  want to be a good putter. If you have the ability to brush off a missed short putt or three putt green and refocus on the next job at hand, your putting game will improve by leaps and bounds.

4. You have to possess vision and creativeness when it comes to putting.

5. Finally, a sound golf putting grip is a requirement. Ensure your left hand grip is in the palm of your hand for the right handed golfer. This should stabilize the stroke and ensure that the hands and wrists don’t break down.

Now that we understand what it requires to be a great putter, let’s look at how we can achieve our goal. You must create consistency on the greens by spending an equal amount of time on both long and short putts.

Long Putting and Short Putting Drills

For long putting and distance control, I use two unique golf putting drills:

  • First, I putt to the fringe from a variety of distances and slopes and try to stop the ball right on the fringe green line. This takes my concentration off the hole and permits me to focus strictly on distance.
  • Second, I putt the first ball approximately 10 feet and each successive putt 3 feet past the preceding golf ball. This truly helps me to get the sense for incremental increases in distance.

Here are some putting tips to practice short putts:

GOLF The Best Putting Instruction Book Ever!

GOLF The Best Putting Instruction Book Ever!

  • The first drill requires me to make putts from four distinct angles around the hole. I do this three times, and if I miss, I begin over until I realize my goal.
  • For the second drill, I must make 10 straight putts from the same spot roughly 3 feet from the hole. I do this from two distinct places around the hole. Once again, if I miss, I start over at the initial spot.

To work on a consistent putting stroke, I work on three keys:

1. Focus on not employing the hands in the stroke. Do not let the wrist or hand angle change throughout any part of the stroke.

2. Work on having absolutely no tension in the forearms and shoulders.

3. Work on taking the putter back on the predetermined line by utilizing the white line on my putter golf club head as a guide.

If you  increase these factors of your putting stroke your putts per round should decrease.

I have advanced my putting considerably over the years by becoming more knowledgeable about the putting stroke. I additionally have come to fully grasp that being a excellent putter is the greatest way to lower your golf score. If you devote time each week on the practice putting green and focus on my golf  putting drills, I know you will improve your putting on the course.

How to Putt Using the Simple Pendulum Action

How to Putt Using the Simple Pendulum Action

How To Putt

Proper Pendulum Action

When trying to learn how to putt in golf it should be one of the easiest things to master because it is such a simple action. It becomes difficult because there are so many different putting styles, and each of them can work depending on the individual. The ability to putt properly requires some technique, but of even greater importance is the mental aspect of putting the golf ball. In this article we will talk about the pendulum action for putting, as for many people it will be their most consistent putting stroke.

Learning how to putt is just like any other aspect of golf; it requires a basic knowledge that goes into a good putting stroke and then the ability to carry it out on a consistent basis. And in order to be consistent with it requires more of an analytical mind and less of an emotional one. Having the right putter in your hands for your particular putting stroke is the best way to start, and we will cover that in another piece.

The Pendulum Action Gives You Consistency

The major advantage of the pendulum putting stroke, if done properly, is that the putting face always remains squared to the ball. One of the major problems with most golfers is to bring the putter back to far in the back swing. In doing so the putter loses that square-to-square dynamic, and when that occurs the putter upon ball contact can be open or close, creating a push or pull.

A shorter back stroke will not only make it easier for the putting face to be square to the ball through contact, but also will almost require you to accelerate through the putt. This invariably will bring about better ball control. You may relate putting in golf to driving a car.  If the driver of a car accelerates around a turn, he will have better control of the car than if he approaches the turn fast and then attempts to slow through the turn. His same principle applies with accelerating through the ball.

The objective of the putting stroke should always be to take the left-right variable out of the equation, and the pendulum stroke gives us the best chance to do that.  If the putter is never taken back past the point where it must begin to open, and never ends past the point in the stroke where it begins to close, keeping the ball on line should be a given, and the only variables will be reading the line the ball should travel over and proper ball speed.

Once the mechanics of the golf putt are achieved on a consistent basis, the mental aspects take over.  So the last point I would like to share in discussing the art of putting is develop a rhythm to your putting, using the same routine to read your putt, set up, and stroke the ball.  Your time to do all those things should be similar from putt to putt.

The Mental Variables in Putting

Once the mechanics of the golf putt are achieved on a consistent basis, the mental aspects take over.  A few that I will briefly talk about are:

  1. Don’t clutter your mind with how much the putt will break while over your putt.  When reading your putt, decide the amount of break and then fix your attention on where the point is on the where you want to putt your ball.  In other words, if you expect the ball to break six inches, your focus should be six inches above the hole, and forget completely about the hole while putting.
  2. Upon deciding where that point is, line it up with something on the green six inches to one foot in front of the ball.  It should be anything on the green you will be able to distinguish when over the putt.
  3. Using that point on the green directly in front of your ball as the target, putt directly over it and let the ball do the work.  The only thing you can do at that point is give it an accurate stroke with the proper distance.

One last point I would like to share in discussing the art of putting is develop a rhythm to your putting, using the same routine to read your putt, set up, and stroke the ball.  Your time to do all those things should be similar from putt to putt.  Read more about all aspects of the short game at www.

Art of Putting- How to Consistently Make the Short Ones

The Art of Putting- Making the Short Putts

Learning the art of putting will give you a near fail-safe, cannot miss approach to putting, never blowing a putt three feet or less.  Picture how much more self-assuredly we could play the game.  Being confident that any putt inside three feet is likely to go in will mean your target from your longer shot or for any long-range putt simply needs to be within that short distance.  And definitely we could be extra aggressive striking our initial putt if we know that to knock it in we don’t have to be inside tap-in distance.

The Mental Art of Putting: Using Your Mind to Putt Your Best

The Mental Art of Putting: Using Your Mind to Putt Your Best

Now that we now have established just how terrific it will be to make the three foot putts each time, let’s go about practicing the art of putting the right way.  I am sorry; this doesn’t have to do with a little mysterious pill or elixir, because it is going to take some practice.  However anyone with a rather steady hand and being able to relax and putt the golf ball with confidence ought to manage to understand successful putting and will be knocking them in consistently.

Here Are the Basics to Putting

1.            By no means take the golf ball out of the hole.  Okay, you can once you’ve knocked it in, but not when you’re lining the ball up.  What we mean is on a putt that short of a distance, if the ball is struck firmly to the back of the hole, there will hardly ever exist a break with the putt.  So while looking over the putt aim the golf ball at most to the side of the golf hole, however not so it could miss when you hit the ball straight.

2.            Pick a spot.  Not the hole, but a spot on the green about 9 to 12 inches in front of your golf ball for longer putts.  That’s your target.  After you have set that spot when lining up the ball, never lose focus on it.  The key rationale “the spot” becomes so vital that you will be you never have to move your head to view it.  The head moving becomes one of the foremost culprits for inadequate putting.  For my part, I think it is so vital that as soon as I locate it I walk right to the ball and set my feet as I concentrate on it.

3.            Employ a short back swing.  The art of good putting maintains that you should always give a firm strike on your golf ball as you accelerate the putter head through the golf ball.  Then move the face of the putter forward so it reaches a exact right angle to “the spot’ that you have established as your target, not necessarily the hole.

4.            Use Your Shoulders.  Except if you’ve got particularly steady, reliable hands practice using your shoulders rather than the hands for your putting motion.  Your shoulder muscle groups are larger in addition to stronger than the hands, wrists and forearms.  As a consequence they are a great deal less likely to let you down with inconsistency, in particular when pressure is on.

5.            The mind game inside the golf game.  The art of putting really is psychological game, but you have to tackle each putt with self-assurance.  Even when you get betrayed with the infrequent poor putting, you have to have a short memory in addition to never getting away from your successful tactics you have established which made you a terrific putter.  Every so often reason tells you that it isn’t your putting day, and you might have to assure yourself that those first six poor putts are simply a deviation.  Who cares, it is only yourself that you have to win over.

There are a few exceptional putting guidance aids designed to help you with creating a confident, reliable putting stroke.  This putting advice will give what we believe is some excellent guidance for improving your game on the greens.

The Best Putter- How to Choose it Before You Play Your Next Round

What Is the Best Putter for You

No matter what level of golfer you’re, finding the best putter for your putting stroke will be your first step to improved putting.  It is the single club which you will utilize much more than every other during a round of golf.  Definitely not the driver, which a few golfers will never pull out of their golf bag.  Becoming a decent or even great putter involves a putter that is exact for you.  Here we are going to investigate a few solutions, as well as some thoughts on the pendulum putting stroke.

Before you look for the right putter for you, ask yourself what your favored putting stroke is, or the form of your golf stroke.  Is it a straight back and directly through motion, or is it an inside to inside motion, or kind of the mini adaptation of the full golf swing rotation.  Every golf putting stroke is going to fall by and large in one of the two types, and your putting stroke approach is going to determine the kind of putter best in your case.

Your Putting Stroke Will Determine the Best Putter

Dave Stockton''s Putt to Win: Secrets for Mastering the Other Game of Golf

Dave Stockton”s Putt to Win: Secrets for Mastering the Other Game of Golf

Provided you maintain the blade of the putter square to your golf ball in the course of the putting stroke like I employ, you should look to use a center-shafted design.  In other words, the club shaft attaches to the putter head at nearly its center point, and the base of the putter will probably be just about flat on the ground.  If you prefer the inside to inside golf stroke, then a heel-shafted putter or the shaft attaching to the heel are for you.  With this putter the toe for your golf club has contact with the ground greater than the remainder of the bottom.

Another facet which may be helpful is small alignment aids at the tops of particular putter heads.  A different attribute which has had some acceptance is placing a strip of urethane, a material used for making golf balls, on the golf putter face.  Some players favor the softer feel as they strike the golf ball.

Another thing to examine in finding the best putter is the type offering moment of inertia, or MOI.  These putters refrain from twisting when the golf ball is hit off-center, and the dissimilarity is often significant.  Essentially it converts your awful putts into not-so-bad ones, but as outlined by a report reported in Golf Digest, it could make a four foot difference in a 22 foot putt.  It makes that second putt considerably easier.

Then what do you need to do if you buy the best putter that seems true, you have given it every viable possible opportunity to help out your and it nevertheless fails you?  Maybe it’s time to look for the final option of golf putters, those you observe a lot at the Champions Tour.  I realize these elongated golf putters seem to be bizarre, but they do take the wrist action from golf putting.  When you grow older your wrist action is frequently the first thing to fail you.

Those long putters drop into a couple of categories: belly putters and long putters.  Belly putters affix to the stomach area and will be intended to minimize wrist movement.  Long putters are five to 10 inches lengthier and get rid of all wrist movement, as the left hand is going to secure the top of your golf club with the chest or under your chin, and the right hand merely leads your club throughout the putting motion.  These clubs are easy on the nerves and worth trying when conventional putting have been giving you troubles.

Belly Putters and the New USGA Rule

How the New USGA Rule Will Affect the Game

How belly putters and the new USGA rule could eventually have an affect on many professional golfers.  The new rule basically makes illegal putters where the top of the shaft is anchored to the body, or belly putters, chest or chin putters.  This could create some issues for some professional golfers.  There will be some changes for these pros, as most of them started using the anchored putters in the first place because they had a problem with conventional putters.

This comes out of a rule change announced by the United States Golf Association and the R&A, which regulates the game outside the United States and Mexico.  They are scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2016, but will be reviewed prior to then, as the governing bodies say they will allow the professionals to voice their objections.  For stroke play it will carry a two stroke penalty for each occurrence,  and for match play the penalty for anchoring the club will be loss of the hole.  This does not eliminate the use of long putters or belly putters, as long as they are not anchored during the putting stroke.

How Belly Putters and the New USGA Rule Will Change Things

So what does this mean for the professional game, and how will it affect the weekend or non-competing amateur?  First, it should have a profound influence on the professional game.  Of the last five major champions, three, Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson and Ernie Els, have used the belly putter.  Most have gone this route because of diminished abilities with the standard putting stroke, and now that they will be forced back to that style they could struggle.  Also, many professionals agree that there are distinct advantages with anchoring the top of the club to the body.

Which brings us to the second question: what will it do to the average golfer who does not compete in sanctioned events?  If past history is any indication, it will probably mean a spike in the popularity of belly putters.  A few years ago when the golfing bodies made the square grooves on irons illegal, everybody assumed there must be magic to them if the pros couldn’t use them.  So there was a rush to get irons with square grooves.  Of course because amateurs strike the ball much differently than professionals, the effect on their game wasn’t nearly as dramatic.

Now that the pros are probably going to be banned from using the anchor putter, many people are going to assume that they will be the magic bullet for their putting game.  But even though they will offer an advantage to many golfers, there still is a lot more that goes into putting than the putter.

Quiet Eyes for Better Putting

Quiet Eyes for Better Putting make Golfers Better

I have been a part of many different sports, and my observations with all the amateur competing athletes I’ve worked with were the best athlete has the skill to see and break down things better.  A lot of people consider athleticism as the key, but I’ve believed in athletics the competitor that sees the ball, the court or the field and ice is the one that stands out.So when we look at the golfers who are the best putters, tests have revealed that even in putting how we see the ball will make quite a lot of difference.  We have found that quiet eyes for better putting is the difference.

Looking for Reasons, Quiet Eyes for Better Putting Is Vital

Then what exactly is it about vision that will make certain players better than some others?  It’s been said to having a quite eye, or the capability to have the eyes remain completely still previous to and through contact for an extended time period.  Individuals who are average or poor putters have a inclination to let their eyes roam.  This is calculated in fractions of a second, nevertheless does make a great deal of difference.

Those findings remain relatively new, and this is because the technology with high-speed video plus tracking vision and brain waves has advanced.  Using these technologies allow it to be possible to fine-tune the examinations to develop measurable statistics.

These are Some of the Conclusions of High-Speed Video

1.    The players with the quite eyes keep their eyes motionless for an average of two-three seconds, whereas the typical will be 1-2 seconds.

2.    The target for the great putter is not the golf hole, or around the golf hole.  Like a basketball shooter who doesn’t focus on the basket, but a specific part of the basket, the excellent putter concentrates on a very particular location such as a blade of grass.

3.    On putts that break, great putters aim for the exact breaking point of the putt.  That will become their target, never the hole.

4.    The ball focus for great putters becomes the back on the ball, not the top with the golf ball.

5.    Whenever a player gets under stress, the very first thing that appears to go is the quite eye.  The majority, even when they master the “quite eye” skill have difficulty stabilizing their vision when the pressure becomes great.

This technique would seem to become associated clearly with the ability to focus.  Average putters can work on those strategies to improve their putting skills, but there is suggestion that the great ones do it naturally.  So it appears that everyone might improve as long as they grasp what is involved, but obviously not everyone has comparable abilities of concentration, which will factor in.  Also, under stress we will need to have the self-control to keep the quiet eyes skill.  But it is an interesting concept that everybody trying to improve their putting should consider.

Putting a Golf Ball

Just what makes Putting a Golf Ball So Difficult

In theory putting a ball shouldn’t be very hard.  Compared to other shots, you aren’t trying to elevate the ball, making it a two-dimensional issue.  Power, and therefore hitting the golf ball for length, is not a issue, which puts all golfers on an equal footing.  Weight distribution shouldn’t factor in, making for fewer moving parts during the swing compared to other shots.  But when it comes to amateurs, we have all noticed some fairly unfortunate displays of putting a golf ball.

Then why is putting a golf ball so hard?  Since it seems very simple, people take it for granted.  Therefore they do not take the time to find out about concepts of proper putting, and without knowing that don’t practice adequately or know how to practice.

So learn what to do, then be sure to designate sufficient practice time to work on your craft.  To make my point, next time you are at the place you practice, see how many people are on the driving range when compared with those found on the practice green.

Differences in Putting and the Normal Golf Swing

1.    Ball position.  It changes in your golf swing sequence, but should not change in the putt.  With the best putting stroke you are trying to roll your ball over a certain line, and by putting it too far back the tendency will be to “skip” the ball.  By putting it too far forward you’ll likely “pop” the ball.  Ideally your ball should be positioned underneath of the front eye while in your stance.

2.    Golf club grip.  Normally with all of your golf clubs apart from the putter the grips are definitely in the vicinity of the fingers.  The putter golf grip will be placed more over the palm of the hands.  (At this time of course we are talking about the conventional putting action used in the normal putt).  The big difference is to take a lot of the wrist action from the putting stroke.

3.    Body movement.  In the course of the golf stroke you would like as little movement as possible, but obviously with the compulsory weight shift there has to be some.  During the putting stroke you don’t want any movement, and it is quite difficult to remain totally still.  Try putting facing a full span mirror and look at yourself.  You will most likely move more than you may think.

4.    Golf psychology.  The psychological aspect of the game takes on a greater magnitude in putting.  You’ll find probably a few reasons for this, maybe because it is the final golf shot on a hole, and therefore no chance to recover.  Or maybe because we lack confidence over the putt because we’ve not practiced enough.

Common Traits of Successful Putters

Things that Are the Most Common Traits of Successful Putters

If we are willing to pay the cost for new equipment, technology will definitely get us past many hurdles with our long game.  I do know from my own experience that swapping long irons with rescue clubs and upgrading my golf driver and fairway woods (I know, not actually woods), I was able to decrease my handicap without a similar upgrading in my golf swing.  But when when one thinks of the short game and especially putting, technology isn’t going to bail us out as easily.  But there are common traits of successful putters that we can all try to emulate.

When it comes to putting, the ability the individual putting will be of overriding importance.  But it may be ironic that despite the fact that we may make use of our putter on roughly 40% of our golf shots, the average golfer devotes much more of their time on the driving range than on the practice green.  So to developed into a better putter it ought to become obvious we all must put in the time on the practice green building those putting abilities.

Four things All Great Putters Can Do

1.    Trust the method, and do not become too focused on the outcomes.  Understand that with golf as in all sports there are good breaks as well as bad breaks.  In baseball great pitchers only visualize executing the pitch, and if the pitch is executed the way he wants and it is still hit for a home run, he isn’t on the whole troubled about it.  Sometimes you can make a terrific putt and it will lip out; try to be pleased that you carried out your putt the way you wanted.  Because if you begin worrying about the outcomes prior to how to execute the putt correctly, you will forget about the execution, which theoretically you have spent several hours to master.

2.    Use as little movement as possible.  The less moving components during the putt, the less that can go wrong.  All excellent putters have taught themselves to be as still as possible, and that goes double for your head.  If your head moves, the eyesight is thrown off, and your eyesight is more vital than your putter.

3.   Trust yourself to the point of being cocky.  Confidence is important in every sport, and nothing establishes confidence than knocking in that first putt.  I know, this can be easier in theory.  But successful practice encourages confidence, so it is very important to bring laser focus and all your attention to building that self-belief you will use when on the golf course.  Also, you have to have a short memory, because there will be problems and you have to pretend they didn’t take place.

4.    Have a “secret weapon” that’s your signature for success.  Entering into a competition with that little something that enables you to sense you have an edge can often help.  This may be something very personal that you create, but it can be a mantra to kick-start the mind to focus on your objective.  It really is just a psychological trick to get the mind where it should be.

I have listed four typical approaches that great putters use to become the greatest.  Fortunately everyone can utilize these methods.  Learn more on our website
